Abstract 1 - Study of Light Blues

In his series Study of Blue Light Hues, Greg Petan investigates the emotional and atmospheric qualities of blue through a spectrum of tones and gradients. Inspired by the shifting shades of sky, water, and twilight, the series explores how blue light can evoke both calm and depth, ranging from cool, misty pastels to intense, saturated indigos. Petan uses layer upon layer of translucent blue to create a sense of immersion, capturing the stillness of twilight and the expansiveness of open water. Each piece invites the viewer into a contemplative space, where subtle shifts in blue tones evoke a connection to nature’s rhythm, prompting an emotional response that feels both introspective and vast.
