About the Artist

Gregory Petan

Born in 1964 in Chicago, Greg Petan has been making art his entire life. It’s the only vocation he’s ever known. After a successful career as an illustrator, he turned his attention to creating fine art. He’s shown his work at prestigious galleries such as Eleanor Ettinger Gallery and Westwood gallery and exhibited at Art Basel Miami. Greg is obsessed with the human figure and the animal world. As a kid growing up in Chicago, he spent countless afternoons with his dad perusing works at the Art Institute along with the galleries in downtown Chicago. From Rothko to Giacometti, Chuck Close, John Singer Sargent to Rembrandt. Greg’s influences are vast. Greg is a 30 year resident of Soho, where he lives with his wife, two sons and two cats.
